Apados
LLC is a multi-service organization that provides a variety
of educational programs to assist and support students, families,
organizations and the community at large. The mission of Apados
LLC is to help students and their families successfully pursue
and attain their educational objectives. In carrying out this
mission, everyone and every agency that touches the life of
a student we support will benefit from the assistance we provide
to that student. Apados LLC offers a wide variety of services
including educational outreach, program design, IT training,
organizational professional development for community-based
organizations and advocacy for target populations such as
truant, special needs and youth offenders.
Apados
LLC is a balanced blend of education, business, and community.
We are a small company with a breadth of experience and access
to a diverse workgroup of skilled individuals in the public
and private sector. For the past six years Apados LLC has
been serving students and families within various districts
in the State of Connecticut and Vermont. As a part of its
delivery strategy for educational programs, Apados LLC uses
scientifically based curricula that allow for clearly defined
outcomes which meet the rigor of National Standards for math
and literacy. Because Apados LLC recognizes the importance
of effective, continuous communication in order to support
and maintain the academic health of students, program goals
and expectations are discussed in detail with parents/guardians,
teachers, and any social service organization that may be
involved in the student’s life.
Much of the tutorial work done by Apados is provided in-home.
The most significant advantage to this is that we are able
to help parents participate more effectively in their child’s
education. Apados LLC staff is also able to provide first
hand progress reports to parents/guardians. And when requested
or needed Apados LLC staff will work with other agencies to
provide a complete wrap-around service that effectively incorporates
education.
Milestones
From
2004 -2007 Apados LLC successfully managed a Supplemental
Educational Services Program (SESP) for six districts with
contracts totaling close to $800,000 and a staff of 45 people
serving almost 300 children and their families throughout
the state of CT. Currently Apados is active in Vermont. The
SESP activity required a high level of organization, ongoing
staff management particularly with regard to recruitment,
selection, training and continuous support. Staff had to be
capable of addressing students with varying educational needs.
Apados LLC has also contracted with the Capital Workforce
Development Board for a Summer Youth Employment Tier I Program.
This was a career based, educational program for 107 students
at Weaver High School. The summer program was considered highly
successful, showing an 80% completion rate.
Presently we are a Department of Children and Families vendor
providing advocacy and tutoring to students in the Hartford
area. Apados LLC works with parents to develop an education
plan for their children, provide in-home tutoring or one-to-one
tutoring at the school and advocate for students when parents
are not involved. We work with the student, parent, DCF, Principal,
school social worker, teacher and Family Resource aide.
In 2008, Apados LLC was awarded a contract to work with the
Milner Family Resource Aide Parent Involvement Group to train
5 to 6 parents on how to recruit and train parents to mentor
other Milner parents around issues such as the importance
of caring about the education plan in their district, and
Hartford Public Schools’ policies and procedures. The Milner
School vision, its mission and theme are some of the topics
that we covered in the training.
Apados LLC has invested almost $60,000 in software, books,
and hardware to use with the PLATO Learning Achieve Now curriculum.
This curriculum is nationally recognized and can blend into
the various strands currently offered in schools nationwide.
